Woodend Road, London

A new appointment for Studio_NS, an Edwardian terraced house, a traditional housing typology in the UK. The site is located in the borough of Waltham Forest, an increasingly popular place to reside for many young professionals and families.

The project brief is under development. However, we know the scheme will include a rearrangement of the layout to improve functionality of space for modern living and flow of daylight as well as a rear extension and a loft conversion.

Terraced houses are a popular type of urban housing in many parts of the world, including the UK. They often have a narrow footprint and are multi-story, with living spaces on the ground floor and bedrooms on the upper floor.

Renovating a terraced house can be a complex process, requiring careful consideration of the historical context, existing structure, materials, and building codes. Architects and designers may need to work with engineers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure that the renovation meets the needs of the client while also adhering to safety and sustainability standards.

I already knew Nima’s work and was impressed by his conscious and thoughtful design whilst taking considerable concern for embedding sustainability wherever possible...
